February Business Meeting Highlights

Minutes of Clear Creek Meeting
Monthly Meeting for Business
Second Month 2009

  1. The meeting opened with a period of silent worship. Fourteen Friends were present. The clerk read the Queries for the second month and Friends reflected on the importance of reading and meditation in our lives.
  2. Treasurer’s report: income for the first month was $1470 and expenses were $1727.
  3. M&O: They are in the process of preparing the State of the Meeting report and a memorial minute for Mary Mullin. These should be ready for first reading at next month’s business meeting. The committee is also in the process of compiling responses to the letter and survey sent to distant members and attenders.
  4. Jan S. reported on the last WWQM: It was sparsely attended. Nominating committee worked on finding a new clerk for the Quarter and a new recording clerk was also found. Responsibility for funding young friends at Quarterly Meeting was also discussed. The main piece of business was a minute concerning right relationship with food and land. Meetings are asked to consider this prior to the next Quarterly Meeting. Issues raised by Irvington Meeting concerning the potential membership of programmed Meetings in OVYM will also be discussed at the next Quarterly Meeting. Jerry Knutson raised a concern that outreach to Irvington Meeting is needed. He may bring his concern to M&O. The next Quarterly Meeting will be hosted by Clear Creek Meeting on April 18th.
  5. The Clerk appointed Michael B. to serve on the nominating committee for the next 3 years and this was approved by the Meeting.
  6. Erica P. reported on a couple opportunities for Friends to provide help to community organizations. Four Friends have agreed to provide food for Habitat workers on Feb 21st. Other possibilities include helping with renovations on an old house starting in May and helping in the office of Open Arms Ministries. Peter Stowe expressed a concern that we also consider needs within our Meeting. It is our understanding that Jennie Isbell is planning an after Meeting discussion on gifts and needs within the Meeting.
